FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
(Click on a question to see the answer!)
- What is physical therapy and what does it entail?
- Physical Therapy is a service that
helps to restore function, mobility, relieve pain, and
prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of clients
suffering from injury or disease. We restore, maintain, and
promote overall fitness and health. Our clients include
accident victims and individuals with disabling conditions,
such as, but not limited to, low back pain, arthritis, heart
disease, fractures, head injuries and cerebral palsy. All
states require physical therapists to pass a licensure exam,
before they can practice, after graduating an accredited
physical therapist educational program.
- How do I go about seeing a physical therapist for what ails
me?
- Simply call our
office(212-924-4920) or click on the Contact Us
page and fill in the appropriate information and a Fusion
Team Member will schedule an Initial Evaluation for you and
at your convenience.
- Do I need a physician’s prescription before receiving
physical therapy services?
- NO. Recently, New
York State passed a law which allows you to initially seek
the services of a physical therapist without a prescription
from a physician. There are some limitations so please
call our office at 212-924-4920 so we may clarify them for
you.
- With all the intricacies of today’s health care insurance
policies, can you help
explain my benefits to me?
- Yes, we can help, after all that’s
what we do! As a free service to all of our patients, prior to
treatment, we call their health insurance companies and
verify benefits. If a patient has any questions concerning
their coverage, a Fusion Client Coordinator will be able to
explain the policy guidelines. We always emphasis the
importance of a patient verifying their own benefits so
there's no contradicting information received by either
party.
- Who is responsible for checking my healthcare benefits?
- The beneficiary of the policy is
responsible for checking their benefits and knowing the
limitations of their policy. As a service to our patients
we check to verify every patient’s eligibility. Sometimes,
the information we receive from the insurance company is not
accurate, therefore, we cannot emphasis enough how important
it is for the beneficiary to check the policy limitations as
well. It is very important for you to know your healthcare
policies limitations. Please remember, any services rendered
by us and not reimbursed by the insurance company is the
financial responsibility of the client.
- What if I don’t have health care coverage?
- Fusion Physical Therapy & Sports
Wellness P.C. has a private pay fee structure in place which
is comparable to the average fees associated with physical
therapy services.
- How long is each session?
- Every client’s needs and
diagnosis are different, so it’s difficult to give an exact
time. From the time you walk into the facility till the time
you leave, a good estimation is approximately 1-1.5 hours.
- What should I bring with me the
first time I come to Fusion Physical
Therapy & Sports Wellness P.C.?
- When you come to our facility for
the first time you will need to bring;
- Your
current health insurance card.
- A form of ID. A driver's
license is best.
- Any X-Ray film's, CAT Scan's or MRI's
and the associated report.
- Comfortable
clothing to do your exercises in. Sweats/shorts and sneakers
are sufficient.
- Be prepared to pay any co-pays,
co-insurances, or deductibles. We accept Visa,
Mastercard, American Express, ATM cards and cash.
- Do I have to pay a co-pay?
- In some cases, it is not necessary
to pay a co-pay. If you have to pay a co-pay it is
strictly dependant upon the policy you agreed to with your
insurance company. If your policy reflects a
co-pay, co-insurance or deductible the client is financially
responsible prior to services rendered.
- If my physician prescribed more physical therapy visits then
my insurance policy benefits allow, will they be covered?
- There are a lot of factors that
will contribute to your insurance company allowing
additional visits outside the policy limitations. Our
Fusion
Client Coordinator's have extensive experience dealing with
insurance companies and are very familiar with their
policies and procedures. A
Fusion Client Coordinator will
exercise every effort to receive the maximum allowable
coverage for you, provided your diagnosis requires it. Ultimately, the insurance company approves which benefits
are covered and which are not.
- If my healthcare insurance benefits run out before I’m
completely rehabilitated, can I continue to come to physical
therapy?
- Yes, you may continue to receive
the benefits of physical therapy. First, you must
discuss the financial responsibilities with one of our
Fusion Client Coordinator's.
Fusion Physical Therapy & Sports Wellness P.C.
